Scope & Content Letter headed "Grove Hill Jan 5th 1858" from Emma Gilmer Breckinridge to her daughter, Mary [Woodville] at Glencary, telling of events at Grove Hill, recent visit by Mary's husband Dr. Woodville, plans to send a wagon over the mountain to Mary as soon as the weather clears, with flour, and perhaps the stove, have bricks ready so Wilson [wagon driver and slave] can do some repair work, reminds Mary to send the beef hides to Kyle's [tannery] on the return trip,news of the family, update on the small children's education, plans to send small cedar tree to form a hedge around the Doctor's property, has canceled her plans to go to Williamsburg to visit the children in school there, and other news.
