Scope & Content Letter headed Avenel July 7 [1865 by context] from Lettie Burwell to Eliza Breckinridge telling of her shock at the death of Lucy, comparing that event to the death of her sister Fanny who had married James Breckinridge in 1862, a short time before Fanny passed away. James was killed in the Civil War on April 1, 1865. Lucy had married Thomas Jefferson Bassett in not many months before she died from typhoid fever. Tells of plans to sell Avenel and possibly moving to Kentucky to live with her sister Rosa.
