Title Letter, March 1821, Cabel to Watts
Dates of Creation March 31, 1821
Scope & Content Letter dated March 31, 1821 from Benjamin W. S. Cabell to Edward Watts, Esquire, postmarked April 13th. Other dates are April 3 and Dec. 31, 1821. In the letter, Cabell discusses his financial difficulties and the fact that Watts has sued him for recovery on his note. Cabell proposes to transfer a tract of 828 acres in Lunenburg County, Virginia owned by Mrs. Cabell (apparently his wife) to Watts and to Mr. Gibson in liquidation of Cabell's debts to them.

Notes Letter was originally folded to make its own envelope, and sealed with black wax, traces of which remain; postage and weight are hand-written; stamped postmark; stationary (may be woven or linen bond) has a large water mark of a winged cupid bearing a banner with the letters ALMASSO on one half and water mark initials GM on the other half.
