Title Agreement to Purchase Land
Dates of Creation January 16, 1819
Scope & Content Agreement by Washington West, through his attorney, Moses F. Cook, to sell to George St. Clair and David Palmer a tract of 151 acres, in Botetourt County, Virginia, for $12 per acre. Buyers to take immediate possession of the property. Terms of the sale (plus interest) are $500 to be paid April 1, 1819 and $500 to be paid July 15, 1819, after which a general warranty deed is to be issued. Additional payments owed are $270.66 due April 1, 1820, $270.66 due April 1, 1821, and $270.68 due April 1, 1822. Twenty acres of land are claimed by George Lemmon. If he sues and recovers any of the land, reimbursement is to be made from the seller to the buyers at $12 per acre plus interest. The twenty acres in question is to be excepted from the general warranty provision of the deed.
