Title Deed
Dates of Creation August 11, 1794
Scope & Content This deed is for the purchase of 150 acres of land in Greenbrier County by Charles Caffrey Martin from John Pate. The deal is conditioned on Martin giving Christian Vinyard a title to one hundred acres of land in Bedford County which Vinyard has purchased but has not received title. There is a replenum bond involved in the deal payable to Jno. Hook which amounts "to upwards of four pounds". The 150 acres is from a tract of 1000 acres being the residue of a four thousand two hundred ninety acre tract surveyed for John Trent and Henry Trent. On the reverse side is a note written in 1957 at the request of Mrs. W. Vinyard that the Bedford county land mentioned was given by the Botetourt County Court to Nancy V. (probably Vinyard) in 1819.
