Title The Fountain Room at Hotel Roanoke, 1947
Description A black and white photograph of the interior of the Fountain Room located in the basement of Hotel Roanoke. There is a hand painted mural of colonial Virginia scenes on the wall. The room is supported by fluted marble columns and the floor is marble terrazzo tiling laid in squares. The chairs, a mix of side and arm chairs, are metal with vinyl upholstery. The lighting in the ceiling is concealed behind ogee shaped openings painted white to contrast with the darker colored ceiling. The room has been cleared for a meeting and the chairs line the walls. There are protective carpets on the tile floor. There is a mirror all across the far wall with the Virginia flag on a pole on the right and the American flag on a pole on the left.
