Title Home at 414 Walnut Avenue, S.W.
Description A black and white photograph of the house located at 414 Walnut Avenue SW, in the Old Southwest area of Roanoke, Virginia. From the Roanoke City directories, it appears the original owners of the house were James H. Gibboney and his wife, Hattie. Mr. Gibboney was the chief chemist for the Norfolk & Western Railroad Company. Around 1969, Alan Calmes took possession of the house. Mr. Calmes was associate professor of history at Roanoke College, Salem, Virginia, from 1968–1974.
