A black and white photograph of Henry S. Trout, the mayor of Roanoke from July 1, 1892 to June 30, 1894.
When First National Bank of Roanoke was organized 1882, Mr. Trout was called upon to take charge of this financial institution as its president, which position he held for nearly thirty years. He also served as President of the Roanoke Gas and Water Company for a number of years.
Politically he was a Democrat and served eight years in the Virginia Legislature. He was a member of the House of Delegates from 1877 to 1881 and represented the district of the county and city of Roanoke and counties of Montgomery and Craig from 1882 to 1886 in the State Senate. He served one term as mayor of Roanoke, being elected to that office in 1892.
