Black & white panoramic photograph of the Miss America 1961 pageant. Several women stand on the catwalk, others lined up on the stage. Each girl wears a puffed tulle skirt dress with long white elbow length gloves. Each holds bouquets of trailing flowers. Photograph is taken in Atlantic City, New Jersey. On the stage, far above the women, is a white carriage, with several men in white tuxedos spaced down the stairs that lead up to the carriage. The stands surrounding the catwalk on the floor of the auditorium are packed, as are the stands in the stadium. Pageant took place from September 5 - 10, 1960, and resulted in Miss Michigan - Nancy Ann Fleming - winning the pageant. |
