Letter headed Richmond January 28th '62 from Emma Breckinridge to her mother telling of events in her life while staying in Richmond, looking at material [lanns] for making dresses, of how her wardrobe of dresses is fine for now, about wedding presents she has purchased for James and Fanny's upcoming wedding: Pa's gift will be a writing desk at $15, Ma's is silver basket lined with French blue, at $10, sister's is a little wine set with a decanter and 6 wine glasses at $5, is staying the week with Cousin Sally Grattan, names different people she has seen and visited, A PS note was written by Sallie Grattan telling of how well Eliza and Lucy have done as her house guests, sends thanks for the ham and sausages the Breckinridge family had shipped to them recently, states that she and Lucy have become "kindred spirits", closes with news about the family cousins. |
