R. W. Jones Letter - May 30, 1892 |
Dates of Creation |
May 30, 1892 |
Scope & Content |
R. W. Jones writes Bernard that he has a sample copy of "The Rural Messenger" in which he saw that Bernard is publishing "War Talks of Confederate Veterans." Jones also has his June advance sheets of an address Bernard expected to deliver at the Crater, and Jones mentions that he sent Bernard notes on his observations. He also would be glad to read his address as delivered. Jones is at a loss concerning the account he related of his having been ordered by General Mahone to have bayonets fixed and being told how the charge should be made. He is sure of his recollections, but does not like it to stand on his statement alone, when even General Mahone does not recollect it. He would like the statement modified so that there could be no question of the correctness of his statement. Jones wishes he could attend some of the reunions of his army comrades. |
