Post Card from Conaut |
Dates of Creation |
January 27, 1896 |
Scope & Content |
Post card from H. W. Conaut living in Ontario, Canada, to George Bernard, thanking him for "War Talks of Confederate Veterans" and requests to be notified when the second volume is done. He compliments Bernard on the compilation and says that Bernard deserves credit. Conaut thought that Colonel Archer's submission was the best. Conault says that War Talks gives a personal insight into war, where other histories tell it in an ordinary way, with figures and such. He says he is Canadian but, as a lad in Virginia, he saw the armies under Lee and the Federals under McClellan. If Bernard knows of any more books like his, to let him know. |
