Scope & Content |
This is a four-page souvenir program and menu created for the formal opening of the new Hotel Roanoke on September 16, 1938. The front of the menu has a picture of the hotel as it was on the day of the opening in 1938. On the last two pages are two photographs of the hotel from the 1880's and 1916, as well as a reproduction of The Roanoke Leader article about the opening of the original Hotel Roanoke. On the first inside page there is a picture of a dogwood branch in blossom and a description of the legend of the dogwood tree. Two signature dishes of Hotel Roanoke, peanut soup and spoonbread, are not on the menu. |
