Letter headed Oct. 19th [1863 by context] from Julia Breckinridge to her mother in law Emma W. G. Breckinridge thanking her for things sent from Grove Hill and telling of events at Buchanan, Gilmer has written recently from Orange Springs, Jim [slave] is replacing Strother [slave], due to his bad toothache, Strother has not been of much use in camp, news of Aunt Deborah who is at Cabell Washington's place and tells of Evelyn's wedding that was well attended and "Russell Robinson hurried up a band of music from Richmond", news of house sales in Buchanan, closing with more events near to home. |
