Letter headed Banking House of Bassett & Bassett, Washinton County, Brenham, Texas, June 20th, 1879, Feb.14th, 1879 from Jeff Bassett to his sister in law Eliza Breckinridge telling of her last letter being missent to Fincastle, Texas, a place he had not heard of, comments on his daughter Ida's grades in deportment and manners at the school she is attending at Grove Hill, also on the book "The Blue and the Grey" that Julia Breckinridge has written and is seeking to have published and he has offered advice abouut the publishing process, he plans to send he a copy of a Frenchman: Gaborieau's novel "Marriage at a Venture", that he is enclosing $20 for Ida's expenses and her mother is sendinmg material for a new dress, that his family is all learning to swim like "ducks" and his intentions to write more later. |
