Letter (a), envelope (b), and piece of linen (c). The letter (a) is written on Margaret Lynn Lewis Chapter of the DAR stationery and give the history of the enclosed piece of linen (c), which the sender identified as a 'nice soft wash rag' and was made from the last of her mother's linens sheets, made from her trusseau when she married in 1832. The flax was grown, spun, and woven on the sender's grandfather's place. The envelope (b) is addressed to Mrs. Thompson Goodwin, Elmwood. The linen is a small rectangular piece of hand woven and undyed linen with two finished edges. |
