Postcard from J. W. Saunders 'Somewhere in France' to 1st Lieutenant F. K. Saunders at Camp Lee, Virginia. Postcard is written an American Y.M.C.A logo postcard with 'On Active Service with the American Expeditionary Force' across the front of the card. On the reverse is a purple postmark stating 'passed as censored' and an additional with the date and 'Army post office 10 13 1918.' The reverse, written in blue ink, reads: Somewhere in France October 12th 1918 Had a letter from D. & home of the same way I got yours. Haven't time to write a letter but will send you this card anyway. Was glad to hear from you and to know that you are still getting along good. I imagine when this card reaches you, you will be well on your way to France. I fyou do not hurry adn get over I am afraid you are going to be disappointed for we are now putting on the finish touches. J. On the reverse, in the upper right it read's Soldier's mail 1st Lieut. F. K. Saunders 28th Co. 7th Battalion Camp Lee Virginia USA and written vertically along the left edge: Reply to J.W. Saunders U.S. Army American Expeditionary Force, France |
