Postcard of the Falls at Tinker Creek, taken before the construction of the Carvins Cove Reservoir dam, which was completed in 1928. Image is hand tinted, with light colored falls at the center of image, surrounded by high facing rocks and brush. In the immediate foreground is a large body of water, with bare trees at the right foreground. Reverse of postcard contains an inscription from a girl named Ethel C. She writes: Dear Miss Ora / I certainly did preishate [sic] your post and we are all well. I joind [sic] the singing school and i cannont come until it is over. Goodbye answer me. Ethel C. Stamp has been removed, but postmark remains for May 1 1908. Sent to Mrs. J.H. Riley, Hollins VA R.F.D. no 1. |
