Historical Society of Western Virginia March 2009 newsletter. Newsletter includes highlights of the Museums and Historical Society activities. A thicker newsletter than previous, it covers a number of different society activities: Charles Johnston's 1790 narrative, republished by the Historical Society, new staff Linda Steele (registrar and digital collections) and Kathryn Wallace (Visitor Services Coordinator), Kegley Lecture speaker Dr. Elisabeth S. Muhlenfeld, president of Sweet Briar College, on Mary Chesttnut's diaries, a memo from Executive Director Jeanne Bollendorf, an expansion of 'Free Fridays' throughout Center in the Square, A series of lectures offered throughout Roanoke on Abraham Lincoln, the spring bus tour Abingdon, a Founder's Day event at Breckinridge Middle School, a new virtual exhibit on Hotel Roanoke through the museum's website, volunteer and internship opportunities, and upcoming events. |
