Scope & Content |
Letter headed "Pittsylvania CH Feby 25th 1844" from George H. Gilmer at Pittsylvania Court House to his brother-in-law, Cary Breckinridge, at Fincastle, Botetourt, Virginia, replying to a request that Harmer advise his mother in regards to settling her estate before she dies, and apparently Harmer is not in favor of doing that at this time, but does hold open the possibility of recommending this action after seeking advice from all the family members and Judge Leigh and Mr. Radford. Harmer makes some comments about his brother William's poor personal and business habits, also tells of potential problems with the two minor children, their guardianship and management of their property as well as the question of where they might live. |
