Letter headed "Grove Hill July 25th 1855" from Lucy Breckinridge and her mother, Emma Breckinridge, to Mary Breckinridge Woodville, complaining of the hot weather, telling of local events, flowers in bloom, people traveling, and hopes to travel to Oaklands soon. Comments on the new baby Emma (born in February 1855) sends much love and kisses to all. The second portion is written in pencil by their mother, Emma Breckinridge, with news about some of their visitors and friends, talks of drying pears ("they are better then apples"), and closes with more comments on the new baby and how she must be growing and changing. |
