Title |
R. E. Colston letter to George S. Bernard |
Dates of Creation |
1895 |
Scope & Content |
George S. Bernard received a letter from Raleigh E. Colston that appears to be a clarification. Colston makes reference to Bernard's "War Talks of Confederate Veterans" pages 125-128 and 145-148. The images here represent only pages three and four, as pages one and two are missing. Colston's letter contains his hand-drawn diagram of his position at the opening phase of the Siege of Petersburg. Colston quotes Thomas Carlyle's statement that history is distillation of rumor, and Napoleon Bonaparte's statement that history is fiction. |
