Letter headed "Thursday -- Leigh -- December 5, 1844" from Lucy Gilmer to her sister, Emma Gilmer Breckinridge, at Fincastle, Botetourt County, Virginia, responding to Emma's letter of November 25 (see Object ID 1969.51.369), telling of an ill friend, Mildred Dabney; about local political discussions; her opinion of some of the ladies making inappropriate remarks; that little Cary is a big hit with all he visits and they are expecting Emma's family to visit at Leigh before they will send Cary home. |
