Letter is headed "Dearest little Muh" [Nannie B. Robertson,] Wed. night, apparently mailed with letter 1969.51.780. He apologizes for not writing more often, he has gotten out of the army and working for a company and he is "beginning to feel like an important cog" and it makes it hard for him to get away, tells a story of an old man from Virginia who is living in the same boarding house that related a story of a Robertson in Scotland who saved Robert the Bruce from a wild boar, and renamed the Robertson to another name, which was the maiden name of the old man's mother. He tells of his plans to enlist in the army but it is contingent on other events, asks questions about people, but uses only the first name, so they are not immediately know to nonfamily readers, tells of a whole batch of pictures taken on the border [of Mexico?] and says his face does not appear in many of them. He seems to be planning to return to Virginia before too long. |
