Letter headed "Smithfield Oct 9th 1845, Thursday Night" from Alice Watts to Mary Ann Breckinridge, Botetourt County, Virginia, and tells of plans for the upcoming wedding of Jane Preston to George Gilmer, a show that is coming to Fincastle and her father gave her only one dollar to see it and a lot of family news. The letter is difficult to read because the ink has bled through the paper and obscures the writing on the other side. |
