Letter from James Menzies, Williamsburg, to Col. William Preston, Fincastle, dated March 23, 1775 (water stained, partly illegible), about land transactions, establishing titles, etc; Thomas Walken and Alex Sayers and Capt. Floyd mentioned in connection with the property. Says Gov. Dunmore wants 8, 10, or 12 thousand acres surveyed on waters "navigatable to the Ohio" and tells of his own purchase of Lt. William Wilson's right to 2,000 acres. A small drawing is on the same letter. |
