Fischer to Mary Gilmer at Leigh in Albemarle [County] telling of his attempts to borrow money without results and an offer for $8 for his watch, that he needs clothes, firewood, and clothes to be mended, and then expresses his sorrow at the death of Governor Gilmer and Judge Upshur [an experimental Navy cannon exploded and killed both men who were present at a demonstration firing]. |
