An account statement and receipt for Fleming Saunders from M. Hollins & Company for purchases of food, household supplies, and farm supplies, from August through December 1859; list includes about 75 items, each one dated with quantities and unit prices indicated in most cases; total calculated at the bottom of each page and carried over; 8 credit items are included at the end, totaling $291.35, mostly from sales of wheat. Document is pages 4 through 6 of a running account statement continued from Object ID 2010.49.067 and continued in Object ID 2010.49.083. A cartouche in the shape of a Gothic arch is embossed at the upper left. It is topped by a fleur-de-lis; clover leaves come down the outside to a cornerstone above a trefoil at the bottom of each side. The word GOTHIC runs across the botttom, below two semi-circles. A three-pronged figure is framed in the arch.The sheet is cream laid woven paper in a striped pattern. Transcription by English Showalter accompanies the document. |
