Letter headed Glencary, Sept. 25th, 1873 from Mary Ann Woodville to her mother Emma Breckinridge explaining why it has taken so long for her to answer her last letter, a neighbor with an injured arm needed help, several in the family were sick, a colored man was barrowing a wagon to carry Maj. Wilson's family to Botetourt and Mary is asking her mother to send certain clothing and materials they need to prepare for the coming winter, and closing with "Sue is going to Staunton next month to keep a boarding house. I think the Valley will be purified to get rid of her". Who is Sue? |
