Letter dated August 20, 1783 from Felix Gilbert in Rockingham to Mr. John Madison at Roanoke in Botetourt County. Speaks of the death of Colonel Preston and the fact that he (Gilbert) had purchased land from Peter and Stephen Conrad and Captain Haynes for Preston, but title had not been transferred or paid for due to lack of witnesses to appear in court. Asks for Madison to send him the name of the executors of Preston's estate so they can settle this matter. |
