Letter written by Rev. Peyton M. Lewis to Mrs. L.F. Freeland. In this letter, Lewis recounts his fathers work and upbringing as a slave owned by Benjamine Deyerle. His father was Charles Lewis- Benjamin Deyerle's slave for which helped him construct the homes and buildings. Peyton M. Lewis helped his father. He recollects the buildings he helped erect specifically on Mrs. Freeland's land and the cherry and apple trees on the property. |
