Letter headed "My Dear Sister March 24th 1840" [Lucy by context] and written by John Gilmer (must have been hand carried as their is no addressee on this letter). John writes about starting school under Mr. Robertson and having a few days off to visit with friends at Gordonsville and mentions several family members. Also asked about his chickens and eggs at home, expecting Wilson (the overseer) to build a new hen house. |
