Scope & Content |
Handwritten contract on legal sized lined paper in blue ink. Entire contract is two sheets 27.845 in height, folded at the center. Originally braded at center top, which was removed at an unknown earlier date. Several words throughout the contract are double underlined in pinky-red ink. Contract is between the Roanoke Land and Improvement Company and Julius C. Holmes for House Plan "G," and the articles of agreement are that Julius Holmes will sufficiently erect, finish, and deliver in a true, perfect and thoroughly wormanlilke matter, the house Plan G in Roanoke Virginia by August 1, 1882. Plans were prepared by architect Frank Maddock, who will supervise the building and finishing of the house. The total for the construction and plans amounts to $1,450.00.
