Letter headed Thursday Feb. 20th,1862 from Julia Breckinridge to her sister in law Eliza Breckinridge who is visiting family and friends in Richmond, telling of activities around Buchanan, families that have visited with her, her daughter Nannie, about several people who are recruiting military companies for men to "enlist for the duration of the war", one only for men over 49 years of age, wants a copy of the music for "My Maryland", looking for material to cover the seats in their [carriage], she "trembles every time I take up a newspaper" because of the news of more losses in the war, encourages Eliza to take the packet boat home and come to her house to visit before returning to Grove Hill. |
