Dates of Creation |

Scope & Content |
George S. Bernard distributed this flyer to subscribers. He informs the reader that Volume II is ready to go to press, just as soon as he has enough subscribers who will forward $1.50 for the book. The book will be similar to his first volume; it will have 400 pages and contain 27 chapters with portraits, illustrations, and photographs. He lists individuals who have contributed war- time accounts, both civilian and military. This book, like the first volume, will contain detailed accounts of battles, marches, campaigns, soldiers' life in camp, life in the trenches and in prison. The book will also include personal experiences of men who commanded divisions, brigades, and regiments as well as those who were on ships, fired cannon, and bore messages. He tells the reader that it embraces interesting accounts of the multiple battles that were fought from the beginning of 1861 until the final closing scenes of Appomattox. Bernard requests that the reader fill in the blanks on the subscription order, sign and mail it back to him. Bernard informs the reader that after the manuscript has been submitted, it will be at least three months before the book will be ready for delivery. Those persons who desire a copy of Volume l should submit $1.25 plus 14 cents postage, and it will be mailed. |
