Envelope addressed to Miss Lucy G. Breckinridge, Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Va. Post mark Jan 5 [1863] Pattonsburgh, Va. The reverse side has the names Emma, Eliza and Nannie written on it. A large portion of a 5 cents Confederate States stamp intact and a small portion of another stamp which has been partially removed. This is the first envelope with a readable stamp remaining intact found in this series of letters and envelopes. Envelope has a black [mourning] around the edges. |
