Letter headed "Wednesday" (without date, but the date derived from postmark) from Emma Breckinridge to her daughter, Mary Ann Breckinridge, at Oaklands, Big Lick, Roanoke, telling of the condition of Lucy Gilmer, who is the sister of Mary Peach Gilmer studying with Mary Breckinridge at Oaklands, enquiring about the girls music teacher Mr. Bozzorata if he will come to Grove Hill next year to continue the girls music lessons, on Cary Breckinridge's return from his trip east and bringing garden seeds, gifts for the girls, of her desire to rebuild the [entrance] road and replant the flower beds and shrubbery, and closes with a mention of each of her children. |
