Letter headed Grove Hill, Sept. 6th 1861, Friday morning, from Mary Breckinridge Woodville to her husband Dr. Lewis Woodville who is at Fairfax Court House as the Surgeon of the 7th Regt. Va. Volunteers, Col. Kemper's Command, noting that his recent letter was greatly appreciated, asking him to write more often, seeks guidance on answering a letter from Susan Frederick, glad he had seen Gilmer and got news from home, inquires about clothing he will need this winter, sends a lock of the five week old baby's hair, describes the baby as growing fast, plans to take "tea" with Aunt Matilda, hopes that George will return from Buchanan to go home with her to Monroe County, she has a cold, but it is healing fast and she plans to return home next Tuesday. |
