Letter headed "Glencary August 23, 1853" from Emma Gilmer Breckinridge to her husband Cary at Grove Hill, telling of her activities each day as they work at Mary's home [Glencary] in the morning and visit the Springs in the afternoon which suits her very well, tells about helping Dr. Woodville getting his oats and timbers hauled in the rainy weather (using the wagon and two slaves from Grove Hill), eating with friends in the evening, names many of the friends and family that are visiting the Springs, tells of her really liking the place where the Woodvilles are living. |
