Many words are hard to make out, and the individual's name is difficult to determine, but is believed to be James Alexander Gentry. He informs Bernard that in 1861/1862 he was in Company H (Richmond) First Virginia Volunteers and from 1862/1865 he was in Manchester Elliot Gray's Company I, 6th Virginia Infantry, Mahone's Brigade. ??? - wounded at 2nd Manassas and ??? - shot in the mouth ???.
