3. Eyeglasses from S. Galeski Optical - A pair of eyeglasses and a metal case from S. Galeski Optical Co, which was located at 211 South Jefferson Street in Roanoke. The glasses originally belonged to Sanders Graham Davidson (b. 1902) (a) Glasses are made up of round lenses with bent gold noseband and thin gold frames which curve deeply behind the ear. The lenses are lined with either an early plastic or an amber or other type of resin molded until smooth and almost translucent. (b) The glasses case, once covered in a thin layer of ribbed leather, is a metallic brown under the remnants of the leather covering. Bottom of case is stamped with S. Galeski logo. (c) Small piece of paper with handwritten note by donor's mother (wife of Sanders Davidson), which states at which age Sanders wore the glasses.
