   Short letter headed Grove Hill, July 29th, 1880 from Julia A. Breckinridge to "Daught," her daughter Nannie sending her the $10 she had promised and stated she had written yesterday with all the news. (letter missing from our collection). Notes that Grandma [Breckinridge] did not arrive last night, but will be here Thursday. Mr. Harris is working.

2. Letter - May 20, 1839

   Letter headed "Catawba May 20th 1839" from Emma Breckinridge to her mother, Mary Gilmer. The address portion of this letter is torn off and lost. Letter discusses bringing her sister Lucy to Catawba to "educate her in the vulgar arts of sewing, cutting out, housekeeping and etc...". Mentions her children and inquires about Peachy and her schooling. Speaks of her husband, Mr. B, traveling to Norfolk and will probably miss the election.
