   A program from a Firemen's Service held on Sunday May 26, 1901 at St. Paul's Reformed Church in Roanoke, Virginia. The cover states that the Reverend Ellis Hay presided over the ceremony and the Junior Hose Company No. 2 were special attendants. The interior page contains an adapted prayer or hymn and the names and ranks of the officers, as well as the name of the printing house which produced the program.

4. James McFall - A black and white photograph portrait of James A. McFall, Roanoke's first fire chief, taken between 1894 and 1910. There is a 3" x 5" card taped to the back with dating information. "Xmas 1896" is written in pencil on the left back. The photograph has been glued to a stiff photographer's mat which has been irregularly cut. The Roanoke Fire Department began with 22 paid men on March 1, 1903. Twelve of the men were constantly on duty and 10 of them were on-call. James McFall was sworn in as the first paid chief of the Roanoke Fire Department. He served as chief from March 1, 1903 to January 1, 1918.
