    Roanoke Times article regarding May Day program to be held at Virginia College during 1923 noting that " the scenery is beautiful and the Garden Theater is especially adapted to outdoor productions". The program consisted of the crowning of the queen of the May, the "Tennyson Prelude" featuring quotations from the works of Lord Tennyson, and "The Foresters", a play about Robin Hood.
