    James A. Walker was born in Augusta County, Virginia on August 27, 1832, and was a student at the Virginia Military Institute. After leaving the Institute in 1852 he was employed for two years as a civil engineer on the Covington and Ohio Railroad.     The first three pages have faded almost to the point where they can not be read, as the typing has faded. Some of the pages have split where they have been folded. Also there is a page missing. There is no signature attached to these papers, but it is believed that this account may have been written by James A. Walker.
