This small daybook was used to keep accounts of tuition, fees for boarding pupils, cash advances, and small store items. This was probably kept by Burford Wills for the years 1854 through 1859, in Franklin County, Virginia. He was reported to have the largest school in Franklin County before the Civil War. Letter - August 6, 1837
A letter written by N. B. Wills of Lebanon, to her brothers and family living at Fotheringay, Montgomery County, Virginia complaining that her family does not answer her letters and asking what has she done to receive this poor treatment. In a post script, she adds some local news about the death of Nancy Carter in August 1837 and mentions that she heard from Charles Henry that her brother's house had burned down.
