A close up of the Carlton Terrace Building, Roanoke, Virginia - A black and white photograph of the entrance to the Carlton Terrace Building located at 920 through 924 South Jefferson Street at the west edge of Orchard Hill. The Building was occupied by apartments, doctor's offices, and at times a coffee shop, beauty salon, and a pharmacy. More recently its sole occupant was the College of Health Sciences. The building and the parking garage have been razed. A car, possibly a Pontiac or Chevrolet, is parked at the curb in front of the building. The steps pictured lead to a lobby just beyond the glass entrance doors.

Carlton Terrace Building and Hall's Produce, Roanoke, Virginia - A black and white photograph of the Carlton Terrace Building located at 920 through 924 South Jefferson Street at the west edge of Orchard Hill. The Building was occupied by apartments, doctor's offices, and at times a coffee shop, beauty salon, and a pharmacy. More recently its sole occupant was the College of Health Sciences. The building and the parking garage have been razed. Hall's Produce, just to the south of the Carlton Terrace Building was a neighborhood grocery store operated by W.M. Hall and R.K. Chewning. A Rainbo Bread delivery truck and one of the milk trucks of Clover Creamery Co. Inc. are parked at the curb near the store. An additional apartment building on Jefferson Street can be seen to the north of the Carlton Terrace Building.

3. Community Hospital site - March 23, 1962

   An aerial photograph from a Roanoke newspaper dated Friday, March 23, 1962, showing the boundaries of the site where Community Hospital was going to be constructed. The photograph shows many of the houses that were situated in a neighborhood known as "Orchard Hill", as well as several businesses that have since been torn down.
