This building was erected by Colonial National Bank in 1926-1927 on the site of the Terry Building, which had been demolished in 1926. 4. Employees of Central Manufacturing Company, 1924 - A panoramic photograph of the employees of Central Manufacturing Company, located at 127 Centre Avenue NW, in Roanoke, Virginia. The business office was located in the building with the tower. Central Manufacturing Company succeeded John Kefauver & Son Manufactory in the 1890s. The license plates on the vehicles indicate that the photograph was taken in 1924. In the photograph, the first man on the left in a kneeling position is identified as John W. McBride, grandfather of the donor. Mr. McBride was born November 7, 1866, and died November 10, 1943. He worked with this business until 1927. Identifiable businesses are Colonial-American National Bank on the left followed by L. Cohn & Son, Smartwear-Irving Saks and Steins Clothes Inc. A panel truck travels in a southerly direction along Jefferson Street. Pedestrians wearing winter coats are walking and standing in the vicinity of the intersection. Cars parked along the far side of Jefferson Street are first a 1939 Ford sedan, and just behind it a 1937 Chevrolet coupe. The car closest to the intersection on the near side of Jefferson Street is a 1949 or 1950 Chevrolet sedan. Behind it stands a fire hydrant at the corner of the sidewalk. The clock attached to the facade of the Colonial-American National Bank is a Roanoke landmark.
