1. Class A Locomotive passing a water tank. - Class A Locomotive passing a water tank. This photo was originally made in color for the cover of Winston Link's sixth and last LP album of N&W railroad sounds, Mainline to Panther. One side of the LP is devoted to recordings made on freight trains Nos. 84, eastbound and 85, westbound, between Crewe, Virginia and Roanoke. The locomotive recorded in most of these sequences is Class A 1238, but the number of the Class A locomotive, westbound in this photo, is not clear. Note: photograph with this object ID is in B&W. 2. George S. Bernard subscription lists - February 11, 1896

   George S. Bernard maintained a list of names of people who had pre-ordered his Volume 2 of "War Talks of Confederate Veterans." Some of the entries on the eight pages are difficult to determine, so no names are listed. On some lists there appears the address of the recipient and a reference to a letter that person wrote.
