   Letter dated August 3, 1823 from William Gilmer, Liberty, to his sister Emma W. Gilmer, care of Peter Minor, Charlottesville, postmarked August 7th. Includes note from Emma's mother giving her father's permission to join a dancing school at "Uncle Peter's". Describes an unsuccessful hunting trip in the mountains around the Peaks of Otter.
